Mike, Director, Medical Affairs Scientific Strategy

  1. Development of U.S. Medical Affairs educational programs for healthcare providers
  2. Strategic oversight of U.S. Medical Information
  3. Medical reviewer for Promotional Review Committee

I joined Merz in 2015 as a Publications Manager in Medical Communications, and at the time, I supported both the aesthetics and therapeutics publications efforts in the U.S. In 2018, I was given the opportunity to transition to a field role as a therapeutics Medical Science Liaison, which gave me extremely valuable experience working directly with our customers to understand their educational needs pertaining to our product’s clinical data and injection training. I moved back into the corporate office to take on a new role in Medical Affairs developing strategic medical education projects (e.g. injection and anatomy training) for our external customers and serving as an internal scientific expert for promotional review and other projects. I have also assumed responsibility for Medical Information in the U.S., and I’ve been working with our fantastic Medical Information Scientists to reimagine and elevate our Medical Information resources for physicians.

In my role, the best way to ensure we deliver better outcomes for more patients is to start with the science. We have excellent clinical data, and it’s the responsibility of Medical Affairs to accurately package this data into strategic educational programs and medical information resources for our customers. Patients benefit most from providers who are up to date with the most current scientific training and information.

I am always impressed at how Merz Therapeutics invests in its people. I know from experience that Merz tries to recognize potential in its employees and give them opportunities to grow and explore different roles in the company. I think this is a great strategy for recruiting and retaining talented, passionate people.

I really appreciate the collaborative nature of Merz Therapeutics. I find that there is excellent cross-functional collaboration which is a critical for success in all our major initiatives.

It’s easy to be passionate about and proud of your work when you support products you can believe in. This is an area in which Merz Therapeutics excels, while also offering a unique workplace culture with talented, collaborative employees. It’s a combination that’s hard to beat!
